Indeed Chidi,

Your quotes never fail to get some reaction from me. To expand my personal horizons by forcing me to reflect on what you say, since it is not only a matter of

" O for a life of Sensations rather than of Thoughts!"

You say that, "To be a poet, one must walk through the valley of ridicule " ?

Perhaps not only to be a poet - to be or not to be – a poet - any kind of poet- but also to be a mwalimu – not just any kind of mwalimu, but one who takes himself far too seriously when the world refuses to be spell-bound, far more seriously than Mwalimu Jesus who - like Shakespeare, knew little Latin and less Greek - or the Ummi Prophet– salallahu alaihi wa salaam who was certainly ridiculed in his lifetime – especially by some poets and they of course paid the price with the antecedents known as the mothers of all literary fatwas...

Question : Is it a necessary condition for all poets to have to "walk through the valley of ridicule" before they arrive at their destination or definition of being a poet?

Do you care to give us a few examples of such?

Talking about the ridiculous, here is an illustration of some holy writ this time from Psalm 23 and please nota bene : it's supposed to be funny or ridiculous but not supposed to be blasphemous

Yea, though I walk through the valley of death I will fear no evil

I like limericks, perhaps a lower form of wit - but no matter -

laughter they say, is the best medicine. Thought of transforming the thoughts in this line which I came across in The BOB CATS NEWSLETTER • MAY 24, 2013 :

" The night watch man rolls by outside the darken windows,

his wife rolls him down the street in a wheel barrow"

by composing a line that would end with " Richard Harrow"

Wishing all , the box cat & his mate, a good date...

Sincerely

like Cornelius Adebayo,
