i wonder if this is true of everyone else's experience. i see functions,
get-togethers, events, all the time in which the racial divide is not
like this, where many many different people from everywhere, racially,
but also ethnically, are mixing. and this mixing is particularly true
for young people, all the time. less for older folks.
maybe i see this through the narrow optic of my college town, east
lansing. but it is also true of lansing, which is not at all a college
town. and it is true of new york, for sure.
where it might be less true is in the suburbs? i don't know. but when i
went to dallas for a conference a year ago, i was impressed by the
extent of mixed-race couples there on the street as well.
and charleston, s.c., as well.
