Come on. I think many people praise the hero - only after the event.
You have to be nearing 50 to remember and to have marched with Anti Apartheid during the time Mandela was in prison.
When the BBC cleared all programming in 1990 to fix their cameras on the prison gates - through which Nelson Mandela would walk to freedom - few people cared.
I may have laid on the carpet, watching the box for hours. But many complained that they'd missed their daytime telly.
