USA Africa Dialogue Series - Fwd: [IDU USA] CAMBRIDGE POISED TO CELEBRATE THEIR OWN PROF. SHAW IN A FORTNIGHT

University of Cambridge and community are poised to host a memorial event in honor of one of theirs, Prof. Thurstan Shaw, starting from May 8, 2014. Guests have been invited to this special occasion from around the globe, particularly from West Africa where the British archeologist spent most of his spectacular professional career. As expected, Igboukwu shall be front and center in some aspects of the program and shall be represented by a team led by the Idu II, IDU USA President, Dr. Azubuike Ezeife, Dr, Okenwa Nwosu and a host of others.

The occasion shall offer our team the opportunity to fully explain Igboukwu community's call to immortalize Prof. Thurstan Shaw by building the Shaw Institute for Cultural Art (SICA). SICA comprises a modern library, cultural center and a craft institute where vocational training shall regularly be provided to youths in the local population in fields of metal work, design, carving etc as well as in the use of modern technology in manufacture of export-quality goods depicting the richness of Igbo creative art and Igboukwu archeology. The ultimate goal of SICA is to bring economic empowerment to the indigenes of Igboukwu and environs through establishment and promotion of cottage industries, art shops and of course, tourists' patronage from local, national and international destinations.  

SICA and its implementation plan shall be presented to potential UK partners and sponsors. Representatives of an entity like A. G. Leventis (UK) are already scheduled to have a meeting with us in order to explore possible ways to play a role in fostering the agenda being proposed for SICA.

We plan to leave US for UK next weekend.
