This sounds good: Nigeria 'ready' for Boko Haram talks
Nigeria 'ready' for Boko Haram talks
Nigeria abductions: Government 'ready' for Boko Haram talks
Nigerians and non-Nigerians alike must now be feeling a lot happier with President Goodluck Jonathan. May he become a peacemaker and a peace broker in the eyes of Almighty God and in the eyes of both his Christian and Muslim and even more traditionally religious or even irreligious folks
The promise of negotiations sounds much better than any "esoteric"gobbledygook or the sinners who, led by their nafs, favour the more inhumane genocidal approach of "wiping out" the mankind in Boko Haram everywhere – and shedding more blood, but not for the glory of God!
We now understand that the Boko Haram has become incrementally volatile - and perhaps so would you if the members of your sect/ church/ tribe that were captured some five to six years ago, have since then been tortured on a daily basis in prison just because they were advocating resistance to Western education - that you should not go and learn any big grammar and other greatly adorable Western ways – such a beauty pageants and beauty competitions - in post-colonial Nigeria.
This anti -Western education /culture stance has been widely misinterpreted of course in a propagandistic kind of way - as if Islam advocates illiteracy.
The current leader Sheikh Shekau who succeeded the leader before him Mohammed Yusuf who was captured, never tried in a Nigerian court of law , savagely tortured and then murdered in cold blood by the Nigerian Government - he too knows that the first Quranic word of revelation to Islam's prophet Muhammad – salallahu alaihi wa salaam occurs in Surah Al-Alaq and that first word was Iqra - which means read! - and that the prophet then replied "I cannot read " and took to reciting the ayahs imprinted in his heart. It is an authentic Hadith that the Prophet of Islam subsequently said "Seek knowledge even if you have to go to China!"
Hopefully, reasonableness will prevail over the negotiations. In my opinion an exchange of prisoners is no robbery. It's not as if Boko Haram is asking for a ransom to the tune of the sum of money that is missing from the state coffers, altogether said to be at least $20 billion. And that too is immoral.
What we have to be most careful about in any forthcoming negotiations is that both sides keep their side of the bargain - that the government does not in some underhanded way try to have their cake and eat it too - by which I mean that they should not renege on their promises and try to have their girls back AND by some trickery try to capture or exterminate the Boko Haram and its leadership....
Let us pray for the best – and that e.g. The Muslim authorities worldwide, and particularly those of Saudi Arabia will have a moderating influence on the current ideology, leadership and direction that Boko Haram will take...
This is not propaganda. For those who are interested in that sort of writing here's some of the material used in teaching propaganda writing: Seven propaganda devices
One last little thing: the US trained Iraqi Security and trained Afghan Security too. The Higher echelons of the Nigerian military have also trained in the US and the UK, so such inputs are nothing new. With the missing Flight MH 370 there are still international efforts to locate the missing plane in international waters...
