Hi guys,

Here's something for any Ghanaian journalists / social justice activists on the list:

The new African Network of Centers for Investigative Reporting (ANCIR) is hosting Ghana's first CrossExamination Course for Investigative Reporters, which will equip journalists with the forensic skills to interrogate interviewees to test whether they are lying or not.

Cross-examination is a science, used by the legal profession, to sift truth from lies. Although widely used by prosecutors and forensic investigators, journalists have seldom been trained to use these simple techniques and tools. This workshop will change that.

You are invited to attend the two-day workshop, free of charge, along with other journalists, editors, researchers and activists in Ghana. You will learn how to apply courtroom-style cross-examination skills in order to sharpen your performance when dealing difficult interviewees, particularly those with something to hide.

The workshop is the first "building block" in ANCIR's plans to improve investigative reporting in West Africa, and will open the door to additional resource including project grants and technical support.

The workshop will be conducted by international crossexamination expert, Heinrich Bohmke, and will be hosted at the iSpace Foundation, in Anumansa St, Accra, on June 16 & 17. It will start at 8:30am sharp.

Seats are limited and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Read more about the workshop here and RSVP on this FORM urgently to secure your space.

The workshop is presented by ANCIR, with sponsorship from the Free Press Unlimited. ANCIR is a media innovation programme incubated by the African Media Initiative (AMI).
