Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Obasanjo: Nigeria is Jinxed

It is unfortunate that it is not possible to keep mute because without
saying anything the ills cannot be corrected. It is through discuss
that things can be put in proper perspectives and faults can be
pointed out for the required corrective ammendment.

The issue Obasanjo raised is very good but like Nkolika pointed out, I
wonder why he did not see himself as one of the bad leaders we have
produced in Nigeria and again as rightly pointed out above by Oshin,
he has been the luckiest person in Nigeria to have lead Nigeria for
the number of times and years. Despite that opportunity he cannot be
categorised along the line he is trying to portray himself.
He is the person that all Nigerians suppose to line-up behind but
unfortunately he did not in totality deserve it. He could correct BUT
he should listen to others with intention of making constructive
criticism and not to feel he is the only one that knows the solution
to the problems of Nigeria. Obasanjo is well respected everywhere
(those who did not like him knows that fact) BUT he did not actually
do what he should have done in Nigeria.

Yes he might understood Nigeria so well, BUT he did not carry out any
surgical operations that could cleans Nigeria yet he will be talking
at every given opportunity as if he did all and other persons were
working against him. When he was leading the nation, he had so much
power, he knew how he could use the power BUT failed to do the needful
that could put Nigeria back to shape for the selfish reason best known
to him. He should stop painting Atiku and others as bad- at least he
climb them all to get to power with all of us believing that
definitely Nigeria would get back to her rightful place in the comity
of nations only for him to leave too many things undone. Who can have
his type of opportunity again? Can anybody look at Obasanjo in the
face the way they looked at late President Yaradua and now President
Jonathan and the person will not ....eat his yam raw .

He should know that he disappointed many people (I know his position
would be I dont know what I am talking about; which I will never
agreed to - because he had absolute power looking at the way he ran
the show during his dispensation) and start to contribute meaningfully
well on how to make ammendment instead of painting people black.

Fine, those he he is painting are not clean, we have heard that
several times. With the hindsight of the experiences he has as the
case is now, he should help see that things are better done now;
partake in seeing that right things are done and good person who can
actually help lead Nigeria is installed come 2015. I believe he knows
very well all that are jostling for the post of the president better
than so many of us. He should forget his grandiose and concentrate on
the move to see how things will be better for the common man. He
should work to see that it is that person be it PDP or APC or LP that
actually win. He will never be forgotten for doing that.

May God lead us aright.
