Billionaire Arthur Eze Makes History, Lands His Jet at Enugu
Folks while the world of travelers were on a countdown for the first Ethiopian maiden flight to Enugu this Saturday, the first international flight landed at Enugu 2 days ago when Igbo Billionaire businessman Chief Arthur Eze made history as his private Jet became the first international flight to land at the brand new Akanu Ibiam International Airport. The aircraft 5MPZE flew from Europe by way of Dakar Senegal and landed at Enugu at 3.20 pm on Tuesday August 20th, among jubilation from the stand by crowd. Billionaire Chief Arthur Eze made his remarks in a statement to the Press and said, "I am the first beneficiary of this beautiful airport, I am grateful to Jonathan. Jonathan has saved the life of Igbo people by reducing their suffering. Right now Igbo people who are noted for traveling overseas for businesses can do so from their zone. Jonathan has demonstrated that he is a wonderful human being and God will continue to bless him", Eze said.(Vanguard Newspaper)
What do I make of this, folks I think it is a good thing that a Nigerian landed at this airport first. We all welcome Ethiopian airlines with open arms as the first Commercial flight to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, but they should understand the competitive nature of Nigerians, such competition may drive prices down eventually in my view. Looking at the prices offered by Ethiopian airlines which hovers around $2,000 from Washington D.C to Enugu via Adis Ababa (economy class), one can understand why more airlines may be a needed factor to drive ticket prices down. I certainly hope that Chief Eze would capitalize on this to launch an airline company that would use Enugu as a hub. No doubt that as a billionaire he has the resources to achieve this objective. Chief Eze correctly said this single event would bring significant economic growth to the Southeast region, I say Amen to that!!
